This year's environmental category focuses on the pressing issue of plastic pollution in our oceans. We invite photographers to submit a set of 3 photos that creatively depict the harmful effects of plastic on marine life and ecosystems.
Additionally, we encourage submissions that highlight campaigns for environmental preservation. These may include protests, alternative solutions, or effective management strategies.

Submission Requirements:
Images:
- Submit 3 original underwater photographs captured between November 2nd, 2023, and November 1st, 2024, in JPEG format with a maximum long edge of 1,500 pixels.
- Images must emphasize a campaign for environmental conservation, which includes protest, alternative, and management. The campaign can show mutual benefit and a supportive relationship between human activities and the underwater world.
Processed Images:
- You can submit three additional, creatively processed versions of your original photographs. These can incorporate AI or artistic enhancements, but the core message and content should remain true to your original capture. relationship between human activities and the underwater world.
- Minor editing of images using any imaging software is allowed. This includes color and contrast enhancements, backscatter removal,
up to 15% cropping, minor flaws fixes, and background consolidation.
Campaign Message (Optional, 50-150 words):
- If applicable, provide a title and brief description of a potential campaign inspired by your images. This could be a call to action focused on protest, alternative solutions, or management strategies.
Judging Criteria:
- Impact: The power of your images to raise awareness and spark conversation.
- Creativity: Originality and artistic merit in both the original captures and any processed versions.
- Technical Skill: Skilled use of editing or AI tools (if used) to enhance the image without compromising its integrity.
- Storytelling: The effectiveness of your visuals and written description in weaving a compelling narrative.
